Amsterdam

For the last week and a half, Kevin and I (along with 6 other friends) went to Amsterdam. It is a beautiful city and we had a great time. My parents flew in from Ohio to watch Hayden and she did great without us. Here are some pics from our fabulous vacation! This picture shows the architecture of Amsterdam as well as how badly the houses lean.
Look closely and you will see the narrowest house in the world! It is just the width of a window (right above Kevin's forearm) People live in there!

We rented an apartment in the best neighborhood. The apartment was huge and easily fit all 8 of us!

These pics are just the downstairs. If you go upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

we did TONS of eating. This is at a breakfast place beside the flower market.

We rented a van and took a day trip to Bruges and Brussels, Belgium. This is me, Lauren, and Mandy in Bruges.

There is a church in the middle of Bruges that has a Michelangelo sculpture. It is very rare to see a Michelangelo outside of Italy - an unexpected neat find!

Acting silly in Brussels

Back in Amsterdam. This is outside of the Van Gough museum

Kevin, outside of Vondel Park, which is like Amsterdam's Central Park

Amsterdam is known for Indonesian food, so we went out to a fancy Indonesian dinner. It was one of the best meals I have EVER eaten!

French fries are huge in Amsterdam. You can go into this fast food place (Chipsy King) and get a paper cone filled with fries and topped with anything. Mayonnaise is bit on top of French fries, but I opted for cheese.

We took a canal tour. We also toured the Ann Frank house.

This is a parking garage filled with bikes. People ride bikes all over Amsterdam. You see them everywhere.

The canals are beautiful at night

Hello best breakfast in the world! This is a Dutch pancake filled with bananas, topped with shaved almonds and covered in chocolate. It was amazing!

Kevin and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary while we were in Amsterdam.

Do my shoes fit?

Hayden was on her best behavior for Grandma and Papa. Here is Grandma Kuhlman and Hay at Balboa park.

such a cutie

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a great Mother's Day. Kevin and Hayden let me sleep in and then when I walked downstairs, I had a sign waiting for me.
Hayden got me flowers.....

So pretty...

And Kevin made me a fabulous dinner. Filet Mignon, corn on the cob, cheesy potatoes, and salad. It was awesome!

Hayden loves corn on the cob!

Check the video on the post below if you haven't already. It is of Hayden seeing her Big Girl Bed for the first time....priceless. Also, check back on 5/23 when we will have a new blog post.

Big Girl Bed

This weekend we moved Hayden into her Big Girl Bed. Of course it was SpongeBob themed and she loved it!
She was so surprised when she walked into the room!

Hayden did great her first night. We tucked her in and closed the door. About 20 minutes later, she came out crying :) I took her back in the room, put her in bed and read her a story. By the time I was done with the 2nd story, she was out. She didn't wake up until I peeked in on her at 9am the next morning! Even then, she just smiled and stayed in bed saying..."wow! SpongeBob!"

she loved the decals on the wall. Thanks Auntie Wendi!

On Sunday we went to the beach. It was a gorgeous day! Hayden loves her SpongeBob swimsuit that Grandma Jo and Papap got her. We have made an improvement from last summer. Last summer Hayden wouldn't touch the sand. This time, she wouldn't stop playing with it. It was all over her face, in her hair, diaper.....everywhere!

So this year, we are going to try to get her to like the ocean. Here she is walking close to the water.....

And then the waterworks! As soon as the water touched her feet, she started screaming "cold!" She ran away and cried. But, like a good mom, I snapped pictures :)

Back to the sand where she likes it.
